Daj Się Poznać 2017 blog post series 🖋️
Daj się poznać 2017, what is it?
In 2017 I took part in a Polish blog contest called Daj się poznać or DSP for short (could be translated to make yourself known in English). At the time the contest was quite popular within the programming community in Poland.
The concept behind the contest was quite simple: every contestant had to create a blog and write at least 2 posts per week for a duration of roughly 3 months. By the end of February 2018, I created a brand new blog and started this adventure ⛵. I ended up publishing a little over 20 posts on various topics during those 12 weeks. If you're interested you will find some stats from my original blog posts at the bottom of this page.
Fast forward to November 2023... ⏩
It's now November 2023 and I've just created this new digital garden of mine. As the original blog is no longer active, I thought it would be nice to move over some of those posts here.
Important disclaimer ⚠️
As much as I wanted to, I tried to resist the temptation to change the original content of these posts when porting them over here. This is why, aside from very light updates to the formatting (the original blog was in Wordpress while my digital garden uses markdown), what you'll find here is pretty much the same as what you would have found on the original blog. This may include views or opinions that, 6 years later, I may no longer share and may even now find a bit silly 😅. These notes are effectively a time-traveling machine and a great opportunity for me to reflect on how one's perception evolves with time and experience. Each post will be accompanied by a short 'forenotes from 2023' section where I will share with you what I might do differently now.

Some stats from my original blog posts
In no particular order, here are some stats from May 30th, 2017 (the last day of the contest) that I managed to dig from my old notes:
- 22 blog posts
- 6 425 distinct visitors during the duration of the contest
- 9 093 views during the duration of the contest
- 24 834 words written in total
- or 1130 words per post on average...
- ... with the longest post reaching 2753 words!
Those 3 months were very intense, as most posts would typically require 8 to 10 hours of my time to research and write. But I am overall very happy with the results as I wanted to write something of quality that people would find interesting and learn something from.
